Nigerian-based Fintech, Opay, has issued a notice today in line with the directives of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) prohibiting virtual currency trading and cryptocurrency on its platform.
The notice which was displayed on the company’s official X handle stated that all accounts engaging in virtual currency trading activities will be closed and the identities of such customers will be shared with relevant regulatory agencies.
This is coming after the CBN instructed major fintech firms in Nigeria to stop onboarding new customers.
