Messaging application, Telegram yesterday disclosed that it was adding new avenues for creators to earn money on the platform.
The app is launching a subscription plan that will be paid and renewed monthly for users to purchase through (Star) the platform’s digital currency, before access will be granted to users into exclusive content by creators.
This enables creators to invite subscribed users to join their channels through invite links following the monthly paid plan giving room for creators to earn money for providing early access to their content.
The feature allows Telegram creators to earn money, convert Stars into Toncoin cryptocurrency rewards or subsidized ads, and fix prices for their content as deemed fit. Telegram keeps a commission that is yet unknown for all transactions that have to do with Stars.
With its forthcoming star reaction, the platform is enabling users to support their desired creators giving creators 100% of the Stars they get through this Star Reactions feature.
Sometime last month Telegram began allowing creators to share content that is paid to their channels, creating more opportunities for creators to share and earn which is similar to its ad revenue sharing with creators that was newly introduced.
Telegram founder Pavel Durov announced the company’s plans to go public as it presently has 950 million active users.
