Nigerian global chess master, and founder of Chess in the Slum, Tunde Onakoya is determined to break through a ceiling in chess as he plans to break the Guinness World Record for the Longest Chess Marathon without losing a game for 58 hours.
The event which is built to commence on April 17 through April 19 will feature Onakoya playing with many others in New York City.
Tunde Onakoya is a Nigerian who grew up in the slum with a dream to take million of inner-city children out of the slum and give them hope through his chess foundation.
He said “I’m doing this for the dreams of millions of children across Africa without access to education”.
Through his pet project “chess in the slum”, Mr Onakoya is determined to provide functional education to kids who are in need globally by donating 1 million sets of chess worldwide.
Tech Diary learnt that the chess in the slum team have secured an impressive 116,000 chess sets for distribution across more than 25 countries, making significant strides towards their noble mission as well as a fully funded educational scholarship opportunities for 1000 children with health care support.
