In this exclusive text-to-text interview with Tech Diary, Fahad Ali explains how he got into tech and remains current with developments in his field, his LinkedIn success tips, his most significant failures, and more.

Tech Diary: Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Ali: My name is Fahad Ali, a 21-year-old BSCS student currently in the 6th semester.

Tech Diary: How did you get into tech?

Ali: When I started my professional journey back in 2021 after COVID, my 1st job was in customer service and there I got to know that ‘’there is a thing called freelancing, online work’’. So right there I got interested to know more about this thing and gradually I started to get into it properly.

Tech Diary: What are your areas of expertise?

Ali: At the start, I started my journey with Amazon Virtual Assistant, and then jumped into web development after getting much exposure to the professional career-making world, I decided to be in social media.

Tech Diary: What are the most crucial skills for a social media specialist?

Ali: The most crucial skill for a social media specialist is analytics because, even if you know how to run ads, how to make social media calendars, and how to make content if you can’t analyze what your audience wants, what they desire, whom they are interested in then it doesn’t matter. And as for me, its ANALYTICS, and MARKETING STRATEGIES expert.

Tech Diary: How do you remain up to date with the most current developments in your niche?

Ali: It’s very simple to remain up to date with social media developments because each platform tells you everything that’s going on in your niche. Of course, there are different tools, websites, and blogs, and if you come to know/understand the algorithms on your own then the game is in your court…

Tech Diary: Barely two weeks after you created an account on LinkedIn, you recorded over 1300 impressions on your posts, can you share some LinkedIn success tips with us?

Ali: Actually, I created my account on LinkedIn a year ago just for job searching but a month ago I realized its true worth and then I started to take it seriously. When I gained this much impression in 2 weeks, the only reason was consistency, value, and patience.

Tech Diary: What advice would you give to young people who are not into tech?

Ali: Look! Every field has its own purpose and meaning, some make a career in it and some make a career through it. It is just that whatever you’re doing just to know that it should serve a purpose for yourself, for your dreams, for your community.

Tech Diary: What do you wish you could have done differently in your career?

Ali: I wish I should have focused on one thing at a time. When I started social media, I was doing both management and marketing at the same time. I was doing Shopify, daraz, and some local businesses.

Tech Diary: What have been your most significant failures, and what did you learn from them?

Ali: My most significant failure was losing as a professional. I couldn’t learn much due to laziness. I couldn’t land a job without a reference. I was devastated and upon that, I was broke (financially). But now I’ve realized the meaning, the actual meaning of life, and trying to be better every day.

Tech Diary: Is there anything else you would like to add?

Ali: For myself, there are a few factors for success that is passion, consistency, goal/purpose, communication skills and not pushing yourself into everything.

Tech Diary: Thank you for your time.
