This is a new development for the tech giant since it rarely states the time span their security updates would last, unlike its Android counterpart which openly discloses their security update policy to users.
A recent regulation by the UK Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure (PTSI), made it mandatory for every IoT device manufacturer or seller to explicitly state the duration of security updates for each product.
